Training on Personal Productivity Skills for Civil Society Actors in West Africa opens today at WACSI
A specially designed training for civil society actors across West Africa, aimed at improving their personal productivity skills opened today, May 16,2012, at the WACSI Training Centre in Accra, Ghana. The training, organised by WACSI, and utilising the Bussiness Edge Module of IFC's SME trainings has been tailored by WACSI to enhance the professional skills of civil society actors in West Africa.
The training is the first to be tailored to enhance the operational capacity of civil society actors.Talking on the first day of the training, Daniel Andoh, Certified IFC trainer and facilitator at the training remarked that "I like trainings at WACSI because they bring together participants from all over the sub-region. This creates a platform for interesting learning and knowledge sharing".
"This training will utilise an activity based learning approach", Daniel continued. Participants will be empowered with excellent people skills needed at work. For three days, participants will be equipped with skills to strengthen their leadership, coaching and managerial aptitudes at work. The training is currently witnessing the participation of eighteen (18) civil society actors from Burkina Faso, Ghana and Nigeria.
Rita Yaa Ntoso, Programmes Manager of Socioserve Ghana hopes that by the end of this training, she will be able to enhance her leadership and managerial skills. From the first session of the training, she remarks that, "this training is not a classroom type of training. It is highly interactive and we share our experiences. No one knows it all, so with this knowledge sharing platform, we get to learn from each others experiences. The training is very interesting and I am confident that by the end of it, I will be a good team leader".
WACSI has tailored three of IFC's courses; Personal Productivity Skills, Human Resource Management and Financial Management and Budgetary Control Training, to meet the needs of civil society actors in West Africa.
