Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation - Post Training Evaluation Report, Abidjan Cote D'Ivoire (September, 2009)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in collaboration with the Coalition de la Société Civile pour la Paix et le Développement Démocratique en Cote d’Ivoire (COSOPCI) and La Convention dela Société Civile Ivoirienne (CSCI) supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a “Fundraising and Monitoring and Evaluation” training from 1 - 3 September, 2009 for 27 representatives of civil society organisations in Cote d’Ivoire, Abidjan.

The overall objective of the workshop was to provide participants with knowledge and skills in strengthening on planning, strategising and implementing fundraising approaches; identifying funding sources and appropriate techniques to secure funds from donors and philanthropists; addressing challenges civil society face in fundraising; understanding the fundamentals of designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system for a project or an organisation; and providing a comprehensive overview of a sample of M&E tools, methods, and approaches, including their purpose and use; advantages and disadvantages and key references.

Corporate Governance Training for CSO's in Togo - Training Evaluation Report (May 2009)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a “Corporate Governance” training for 30 representatives of civil society organisations in Togo. The overall goal of the training was to provide CSOs in Togo with knowledge and skills in strengthening accountability mechanisms, maximising the Board’s role and efficiency, developing effective reporting structures, and enhancing financial management.

Influential Leadership Training for Women in Liberia - Post Training Evaluation Report (March 2009)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) supported by the Ministry of Gender and Development, Liberia organised an “Influential Leadership” training workshop for 30 representatives of women’s groups across Africa from 4 - 5 March, 2009. The overall objective of the workshop was to provide a core group of African women with strategic policy influencing and influential leadership skills.

Influential Leadership Training for African Women in Liberia - Narrative Report (March 2009)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) supported by the Ministry of Gender and Development, Liberia organised an “Influential Leadership” training workshop for 30 representatives of women’s groups across Africa from 4 - 5 March, 2009.

The overall objective of the workshop was to provide a core group of African women with strategic policy influencing and influential leadership skills. Also, the workshop was used to gauge the possibility of utilising the course content and handbook at the Angie Brooks International Women’s Leadership Centre based in Monrovia, Liberia.

Conflict Prevention Resource Pack Review in Ghana - Narrative Report (April, 2008)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute, WACSI, organised a 2-day regional workshop with keyactors and stakeholders from across West Africa to review existing training initiatives and methodologies on conflict prevention in West Africa. This workshop aligns with phase II of the WACSI, KAIPTC and GTZ Project (Conflict prevention in West Africa, Designing conflict prevention modules for civilian actors in West  Africa), a collaborative effort by these organisations geared at responding to the lack of a systematic and comprehensive framework, tools, and harnessed skills to enhance effective conflict prevention in the region.

The 12 month project (January to December 2008) brings together peacebuilding practitioners and academia, practitioner in security sector reform (SSR), alternative dispute resolution (ADR), human rights, elections monitoring, youth and development , early warning and response, gender, and a handful of other experts to critically examine inputs for the designing of the resource pack. This project is elaborated over five (5) phases, two of which have been completed.

Policy Advocacy and Engagement Pilot Training for Civil Society Actors in Ghana - Training Narrative Report (October, 2008)

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in collaboration with the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a pilot policy advocacy training of trainers’ workshop from 13-15 October, 2008 at the WACSI Secretariat in Accra, Ghana. The overall objective of the workshop was to build the skills of civil society actors in developing effective strategies and communication tools for policy advocacy. Also, the workshop was organised to gauge its relevance and to ascertain modalities for full implementation from 2009 and beyond.
