A Case Study for Local Fund Raising and Sustainability in Africa: Seven Lessons on Financial Sustainability from Better Breed Cameroon
| Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... |
Founded in 2013 by Monique Kwachou, Better Breed Cameroon began with a simple but powerful question: when today’s leaders are gone, who will be ready to take their place? What started with part of a graduation award from the University of Buea and the Orange Cameroon Foundation has grown into a youth-led movement committed to nurturing responsible and engaged young citizens in Cameroon.
Authored by Melissa Juisi, this case study explores Better Breed Cameroon’s 13-year journey, highlighting how the organisation has sustained its work through local fundraising and community support—without relying on foreign donor funding or government subvention. It offers practical lessons for African civil society organisations seeking financial sustainability and locally driven impact.
