Kumasi, Ghana – February 12, 2025 – The inaugural Linking & Learning Meeting for Wilde Ganzen partners in Ghana concluded successfully after two days of insightful discussions, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Hosted by the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) with support from Wilde Ganzen, the event brought together 15 participants from 13 Ghanaian organisations, all dedicated to strengthening community-led development.
The programme, held from February 11-12, 2025, provided a unique platform for civil society actors to share successes, challenges, and best practices in key areas such as community engagement, resource mobilisation, monitoring & evaluation, and youth participation. The interactive nature of the sessions fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation, enabling participants to refine their strategies for greater community impact.
Reflecting on the event, participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to connect with peers and enhance their capacity to drive change in their communities.
“I loved the collaborative style of the whole engagement. We had the opportunity to contribute our experiences to design impactful projects!” said Eleazer Asante from the Orthopedic Training Centre.
For Mabel Apkor, Headmistress of Bilal Mahmud Memorial Future Leaders School, the meeting was an eye-opening experience. “I am very happy to be part of this meeting because I know I will learn a lot from my fellow nonprofits here.”
One of the programme’s key highlights was the practical application of Mobilising Support and Local Fundraising tools that participants had previously received through capacity-building initiatives. According to Gervin Chanase, Master Trainer for the Change the Game Academy, the meeting provided an opportunity for organisations to refine their skills and deepen their engagement with communities.
“This meeting came at the perfect time, as participants have now had the chance to apply the knowledge and tools they gained from previous training sessions. We explored ways to deepen community participation, adopt new strategies for mobilising resources, and make advocacy efforts more targeted and impactful.”
Beyond the sessions, the event underscored the importance of sustaining connections among civil society organisations. Naomi Shencoru, Project Officer at Wilde Ganzen, emphasized the value of fostering long-term collaboration.
“It was really nice to see different organisations from different parts of Ghana and various sectors come together to exchange feedback. Everyone was open to learning from their peers. My hope is that we can sustain this platform and that organisations will continue to reach out to each other for support and collaboration.”
As the programme concluded, participants left Kumasi with renewed motivation, strengthened networks, and enhanced skills to drive community-led solutions. WACSI and Wilde Ganzen remain committed to empowering civil society actors and fostering sustainable development across Ghana.
