| Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... |
Civil society organisations across West Africa, under the auspices of the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), express deep concern over the escalating political crisis in Guinea-Bissau. The indefinite postponement of elections and the uncertainty surrounding President Umaro Sissoco Embaló’s mandate pose a grave threat to democracy, peace, and stability in the region.
This statement calls for urgent action from ECOWAS, the African Union, and other stakeholders to restore constitutional order and uphold human rights in Guinea-Bissau. It also highlights the need for solidarity with civil society actors facing repression.

We urge all stakeholders, media, and the public to read and share this statement to amplify calls for democratic governance and accountability in Guinea-Bissau.
