[Accra, Ghana – 15 November 2025] — As part of activities marking the 20th anniversary celebrations of the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), the Institute organised a community clean up and a free health screening for residents of Ogbojo, a suburb of Accra where WACSI has its regional headquarters.
The community outreach reflects WACSI’s commitment to giving back to society and promoting civic responsibility at the community level.
Community Clean Up on 15 November

The community clean up, held on 15 November, brought together WACSI staff, the Assemblyman and community members. Participants worked together to improve sanitation and create a cleaner, healthier environment. The exercise demonstrated WACSI’s dedication to community wellbeing and active citizenship.
Free Health Screening on 15 and 17 November

Following the clean up, WACSI organised a free health screening at its premises. The exercise began on 15 November and continued on 17 November to allow more residents to participate.
Health professionals from the Ogbojo Polyclinic provided essential services including medical examinations, health education and consultations. A total of 200 people, including community members and WACSI staff, benefited from the screening.
Speaking on the motivation for the initiative, Katherine Adarkwa, serving as Head of Human Resource and Administration at WACSI and lead for the initiative, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to serving the community that hosts it.
‘To give back to the society where WACSI is established is part of our corporate social responsibility,’ she said.
She noted that the outreach has strengthened WACSI’s visibility and engagement in Ogbojo. ‘It has brought visibility to the organisation and improved our interaction with community members since WACSI is still relatively new in this community,’ she added.
Adarkwa also highlighted the importance of the health screening. ‘Many people rarely attend health check-ups and instead treat themselves at home, which is not ideal. Providing free health screening has given WACSI visibility and brought fulfilment as we support community health.’
Twenty Years of Service and Impact
The activities captured the spirit of WACSI’s twenty year journey — service, impact and meaningful engagement. Through this initiative, the Institute reaffirmed its mission to promote healthier, more connected and empowered communities.
