[Abuja, Nigeria – 10 November 2025] — In a strategic effort to strengthen civic participation and promote transparency in Nigeria’s legislative processes, the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) Node has partnered with Nigeria-based Legis360 Centre for Advocacy, Development and Public Enlightenment Initiatives.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, 6 November 2025, at the WACSI Node Office in the country’s capital Abuja.
The 18-month collaboration seeks to promote legislative advocacy, boost civic engagement in lawmaking processes, and strengthen the visibility and influence of civil society organisations (CSOs) through convening, technology, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Omolara Balogun, Country Lead, WACSI Node, underscored the significance of collaboration in advancing inclusive governance.

She noted that “collaborations like this reaffirm our belief that meaningful civic engagement and stronger institutions are possible when civil society and technology-driven platforms work together toward a shared vision of accountability.”
On his part, Folorunsho Samuel, Executive Director of Legis360, expressed gratitude to WACSI Node for the partnership opportunity, describing the agreement as “a timely and strategic step that will bridge the gap between citizens and legislators.”
He added that the collaboration would leverage Legis360’s digital tools alongside WACSI’s convening power to promote active citizen participation and foster transparent legislative practices.

Balogun also extended a formal invitation to the Legis360 team to participate in the 2025 West Africa Civil Society Week (WACSW), scheduled to take place from 19 to 20 November 2025 in Accra, Ghana.
He highlighted the importance of the gathering as a platform for collaboration, learning, and showcasing innovation within the civil society ecosystem across the region.
By joining this high-level convening, Legis360 will have the opportunity to engage with diverse actors including policymakers, donors, and grassroots organisations to share its pioneering work in promoting legislative openness and civic accountability in Nigeria.
Beyond the exchange of ideas, the partnership between the WACSI Node and Legis360 is expected to deliver tangible outcomes. Both institutions will co-create and implement strategic initiatives designed to enhance the operational and advocacy capacities of civil society organisations, strengthen evidence-based policy engagement, and broaden access to citizen participation in legislative processes at both national and subnational levels.

This collaboration will also explore the use of technology and open data to improve transparency, bridge information gaps, and empower citizens to hold duty bearers accountable.
The WACSI Node and Legis360 collaboration marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to promote democratic accountability and inclusive governance in Nigeria. It reflects a shared commitment to nurturing a more informed, connected, and empowered civil society that can drive systemic change and reinforce democratic values across West Africa.
